The guest room was shrouded in the deep, velvety silence of midnight. Moonlight spilled through the sheer curtains, painting silver tracks across the floor and over the bed where Eraya lay awake, staring at the intricate patterns of shadows on the ceiling. The day’s events played behind her eyes like a poignant film—the temple’s sacred hush, the park bench confession, the overwhelming warmth of his family, and the heavy, vulnerable silence of the car ride back.

Her mind, however, was stuck on a loop, circling the terms she had laid bare.
