The sky above the Ranawat Palace had shifted into a soft shade of indigo, with tiny stars beginning to pierce through the velvet dusk like whispered promises. The sprawling palace grounds below gleamed under the gentle golden glow of lanterns, each swaying lightly in the evening breeze. From the large jharokha window of her guest room, Eraya Sharma stood still, her fingers lightly tracing the ornate carvings on the windowsill, her heart a maze of unspoken thoughts.

The stillness outside contrasted sharply with the storm inside her. Ever since her conversation with Vidhart earlier that day, her mind had been in a constant whirl, his words — gentle yet sincere — playing over and over like a lullaby she couldn’t shake off.
